Kia Ora

Kia Ora [Maori: Hallo, Dankeschön, toll], so wurden wir am Freitag von einem Maori begrüßt, der uns rumgeführt hat. Angefangen hat die Führung mit einem Brauch bei dem alle zusammen in das Versammlungshaus eingezogen sind -Mädchen vorne, Jungs hinten- nur der "Chief" (der Chef der Gruppe) geht voran. Vor betreten des Hauses müssen aber erst die Schuhe ausgezogen werden, damit die Füße Mutter Erde massieren.

Dann wurden erst mal Reden auf Maori gehalten -die wir natürlich (nicht) verstanden haben- aber auch wir durften ein paar Wörter lernen. Aber auch der traditionelle Haka, der Kriegstanz der Maori, und der Nasenkuss zur Begrüßung durfte nicht fehlen. Als Zeichen der Dankbarkeit für die Gastfreundschaft hat die ganze Gruppe zusammen noch ein Lied auf Maori gesungen. So haben wir an dem Tag einen ersten Einblick in die Kultur bekommen.

Kia Ora [Maori: hello, thank you, awesome ] is was the greeting of a Maori on Friday. He was responsible for our tour around the Maori village. The tour started with the traditional entering of assembly hall -girls at the front, boys at the back- only the "Chief" (the Chef of the Group) was allowed to go first. Before entering the house everybody had to put the shoes of that the feets can give a massage to mother earth.

Than the speeches in Maori started -which we did (not) understand- but we also lerned some words. But also the traditional Haka, a war dance, and the nosekiss for the greeting was part of our tour. As a symbol of greatfulness fot the hospitality the whole group sang a Maori song. On this day we got a first insight in the Maori culture.
