Goodbye Auckland - Hello Marton!

Auckland, eine Mischung aus San Francisco und New York, so kommt es mir zumindest vor. Die Skyline von Auckland ist sehr beeindruckend, wie die von New York und die Hügel in der Stadt erinnern mich an die Hügel in San Francisco. So ist es auch nicht verwunderlich, dass mir Auckland sehr gut gefällt.

Statt im Hotel zu sitzen, sind wir lieber zum Hafen gegangen, haben den Sonnenuntergang und die Stadt angeschaut. Auf der Strecke zum Hafen haben wir eine Eislaufhalle gesehen, was wenn man sich vorstelle, dass es in Deutschland gerade 30 Grad hat, sehr lustig ist. Ich hatte auch die ganze Zeit das Gefühl, dass ich noch schnell Weihnachtsgeschenke kaufen muss, weil mich die ganzen Lichterketten und das Wetter daran erinnert haben. Vom Sommer in den Winter zu kommen ist schon eine Umstellung, obwohl ich gar nicht mehr daran denke -wenn ich nicht gerade Berichte aus Deutschland höre- dass ich eigentlich noch Sommer hätte.

Gestern Abend konnten wir Auckland noch von einer Anderen Sicht sehen, von der Fähre aus. Besonders schön war, dass wir los gefahren sind, als es noch hell war und zurück als es dunkel war. So konnte man schöne Bilder machen, wenn man nicht gerade fast über Bord geweht wurde und der Regen eine nichts ausmachte.

Nach einem schönem letztem Abend in Auckland hieß es heute Mittag "Tschüs Auckland - Hallo Marton". Ich bin mit meinen Mitfreiwilligen (Alina, Conny und Amelia) und noch anderen aus unserer Gruppe, die in der Nähe wohnen, nach Palmerston North geflogen. Von dort wurden wir dann von Yvonne, unserer Mentorin freundlich begrüßt, die uns erst mal zum Essen eingeladen hat und mit uns einkaufen war. Dann ging es auch schon zur Schule und zu unserem neuen Zuhause in Marton. Unser neues Zuhause ist ein Haus gegenüber der Schule mit 12!! Zimmern, davon sind 8 normale Zimmer, zwei in denen wir Wäsche aufhängen können und zwei, die als Abstellräume genutzt werden. Dann haben wir noch eine offene Küche, ein Wohnzimmer und ein Badezimmer. Das ganze dürfen wir zu viert benutzen.

Aber jetzt mal zu Marton. Marton ist eine kleine Stadt, die größtenteils aus Feldern und Weiden besteht, aber die Landschaft sieht einfach richtig schön aus -mein Zuhause für ein Jahr.

Auckland - it seems to me like a mix of San Francisco and New York. The skyline of Auckland is verry impressive like New York and the hills in Auckland remind me to the hills in San Francisco. So I really like Auckland.

That's why we went to the harbor, watching sun sets and going around the city instead of sitting the whole day in the hotel. When we were walking down to the Harbor we saw an ice-skating hall. That's very funny when I think that in Germany are 30 degrees celcius right now. In adittion I always had the feeling that I need to rush in the store to buy Christmas presents because all the fairy lights and the weather was like it is on Christmas in Germany. But I only remember the change from summer to winter when I listen to storys from Germany.

Yesterday evening we could see Auckland from a different view. We went on a ferry. It was nice that we started the trip when it was bright and ended it when it was dark. So you could take nice fotos if you did not fly from the boat because of the wind and if you did not care about the rain.

After a nice last evening in Auckland it was time to say "Goodbye Auckland - Hello Marton". I flew to Palmerston North with the other volunteers on my school (Alina, Conny, Amelia) and others from our Group who are not fareaway from my placement. In Palmerston North our mentor Yvonne was waiting for us and then we had lunch and she went to the supermarket with us. Then we went to our school and to our new home in Marton.

Our new home is a house on the other side of the road with 12!!! rooms. 8 of them are normal rooms, two are to hang-up the washing and the other two are used as a sorage room. In addition we have a open kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. Only the four of us use the whole house.

But now to Marton. Marton is a small village with a lot of fields and meadows. But the landscape is beautiful -my home for the next year.
