Merry Christmas

Weihnachtslieder, Weihnachtsmützen und Kälte sobald man das Haus verlässt...Weihnachten, die schönste Zeit im Jahr - wenn man nicht bedenkt dass es hier Juli ist. Schon die ganze Woche wurde von einem "Mid-winter Christmas Dinner" geredet und wir haben uns gefragt von was damit gemeint ist oder ob wir etwas falsch verstehen. Aber gestern Abend war es dann doch soweit Weihnachten stand vor der Tür. Der Speisesaal war festlich gedeckt, Weihnachtsbäume wurden aufgestellt und auch das Küchenteam hat mit den Weihnachtsmützen eine gute Figur gemacht. Dazu dann noch die Weihnachtsmusik und man hat sich tatsächlich ein bisschen wie an Weihnachten gefühlt. Zum Essen gab es Turky mit Gemüse und Kartoffeln, als Nachtisch dann Pavlova (typisch neuseeländisch, aber sehr süß). So schnell wie Weihnachten für uns begonnen hat, so schnell war es auch schon wieder rum, schon eine Stunde später konnte man keine Spuren mehr vom Weihnachtsmann sehen.

Christmas Songs, Christmas hat and the cold when you are going outside...Christmas the most wonderful time in the year- if you do not think that it's July. All over the week the people were talking about a "Mid-winter Christmas Dinner" and we didn't know what they mean and if we understand it correctly. But yeasterday was the day of the day Christmas was just around the corner. The dining room was feastful, Christmas trees were in the room and the kitchen ladies looked nice with their Christmas hat. And with the Christmas songs it felt a little bit like Christmas day. For the meal we had Turky, vegetables and potatoes and for dessert Pavlova (typical for New Zealand, but very sweet). As quickly Christmas started, it was over again. Just one hour later there was no sign from Santa Claus.
