Generation iPad

E-Mail, Facebook, Handy - das ist für die Generation Internet etwas ganz normales. In der Schule wurde meine Generation immer so genannt. Die Lehrer haben immer den Kopf geschüttelt wenn wir in den Pausen am Handy waren, Hausaufgaben abfotografiert haben oder Sachen über Facebook und What's App organisiert haben. Jetzt ist es soweit gekommen, dass ich den Kopf schütteln. Meine "Gerneration Internet" wurde von einer neuen Spezies ersetzt, die nun alle Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zieht - der "Generation iPad". Wo ist die neue Spezies zu finden? Sie ist hier in der Schule, vor allem in den Klassenzimmern in Gruppen zu finden. Aber auch vereinzelt auf den Fluren im Boarding House oder in der Bücherei, die eher alls Chill-Out-Area genutzt wird. Besondere Merkmale: Immer ein viereckiges Gerät mit einem Apfel darauf in der Hand. iPads sind hier etwas ganz normales. Jeder Schüler hat ein eins. Im Unterricht werden dann gerne mal Spiele gespielt, auf Facebook Bilder angeschaut, Musik gehört oder Online-Shopping gemacht. Viele Lehrer sagen am Anfang der Stunde nicht mal mehr, dass die iPads weggepackt werden sollen und wenn sie es sagen, werden sie gerne mal "überhört" (manchmal wunder ich mich echt, wie sie noch etwas vom Unterricht mitbekommen). Teilweise bekommen die Schüler sogar Aufgaben, bei der sie eine App herunterladen müssen, um z.B. Gramatik Perfection zu machen. Die Versuchung, dann auf eine andere Seite zu gehen, ist für den ein oder anderen zu groß und so musste ich die Schüler in einer Französischvertretungsstunde immer wieder darauf hinweisen, dass Pferdebilder nicht die Französischaufgaben aussehen.

E-mail, facebook, mobile phone - that's normal for the digital generation. In school the teachers always called us like this. They always shaked their head when we put our mobile phones out in break, took a picture of the homework or organised things about Facebook and What's App. Now the time has come that I shake my head. My "digital generation" is replaced from a new species which gets now all the attention -the generation iPad. Where you can find the species? You can find them mostly groups in classrooms. But also isolated in the floor of the boarding house or in the library which is more used as a chill-out area. Special features: They have always a four-sided tool with an apple on it whith them. iPads are here very normal. Every student has one. In class they play games, look on pictures in facebook, listen to music or do online shopping. A lot of teacher really do not care about it and do not even say that they should put them away or when they say something the students do not listen to them (sometimes I ask myself how they can still follow the lesson). In some parts they have to download an app that they can do some exercieses for example in language perfection. The seduction to go then on another website is too big for some sudents and so I had to say them that horse pictures do not look like gramar perfection.
