Rugby - we are the champions!

Rugby World Cup - Rugby ist die berühmteste Sportart in Neuseeland. Die Nationalmannschaft "All Blacks" wir sehr unterstützt und gefeiert. Am Sonntag Morgen war um 5 Uhr das Rugby Finale. Wir sind dafür nach Wellington gefahren, um noch andere Freiwillige zu treffen und wach zu bleiben. Insgesamt waren wir ungefähr 18 Leute. Nach dem Essen im Nando's sind wir zuerst in verschiedene Clubs gegangen, die zwar sehr voll waren, aber es war sehr schön mit so einer großen Gruppe unterwegs zu sein. Danach haben wir uns dazu entschieden das Rugbyspiel in einem irischen Pub anzuschauen. Wir waren alle sehr müde (das Spiel hat ja erst um 5 Uhr morgens angefangen) aber es war dort so laut, dass man keine andere Wahl hatte, als wach zu bleiben. Im Finale hat Neuseeland (All Blacks) gegen Australien (Wallabies) gespielt. Am Anfang haben gingen die All Blacks schnell in Führung und haben sie immer weiter ausgebaut, sodass die Wallabies keine Chance hatten aufzuholen. In der zweiten Hälfte hatten die Wallabies allerdings neue Energie und haben eine Aufholjagd gestartet. Dennoch haben die All Blacks die Wallabies nicht zu Nahe heran gelassen und haben mit ein paar sehr guten Spielzügen das Spiel dann eindeutig für sich entschieden. Das Endergebnis war 34 - 17 für die All Blacks. Wir sind die Champions! Auch wenn wir jetzt noch nicht sehr lange in Neuseeland leben, haben wir die All Blacks angefeuert und es hat sich angefühlt, als ob wir unsere eigene Nationalmannschaft anfeuern würden. Ich denke, dass zeigt das man sich zu Hause fühlen kann, wo auch immer man ist. Nachdem das Spiel zu Ende war, sind wir schnell zurück zum Hostel, um dort noch eineinhalb Stunden schlafen zu können, bevor wir wieder aufstehen mussten, um aus dem Hostel auszuchecken.

Rugby World Cup -  Rugby is the most popular sport in New Zealand. The national team "All Blacks" get a lot of support. On Sunday was the Rugby final at 5 am. We decided to go to Wellington to meet some other volunteers there and to stay awake. So all together we were about 18 people. First wen went out in some clubs and it was very full but quite nice with such a big group. Than we decided to watch the Rugby in an Irish Pub. We all were very tired but it was so loud that we had no choice than to stay awake. In the final New Zealand (All Blacks) played against Australia (Wallabies). At the very beginning the All Blacks started to get a lead very quickly and the Wallabies couldn't reach them before the break. But in the second half the Wallabies had new energy and started to catch up but the All Blacks didn't let them get to close and did some very good runs till the time was over and the score was 34 - 17 for the All Blacks. We are the champions!  Even we don't live in New Zealand for long we supported the All Blacks and it felt like your own national team. It felt like we won and not only that New Zealand won. I think that shows that you can feel home where you are. After the game ended we quickly went back to our hostel to get the one and a half hours sleep before we had to get up again and check out of the hostel.

Den Rest unserer Zeit in Wellington verbrachten wir im Zoo und auf dem Mt. Victoria. Im Zoo haben wir unseren ersten Kiwi gesehen oder besser gesagt die Umrisse, da Kiwies nachtaktiv sind und so das Gehege nur mit roten Lichtern beleuchtet war. Aber das beste im Zoo waren die Kangaroos. Diese haben ein Gehege, in das man hinein laufen kann und sehr nah an sie heran kommt, wenn sie auf dem Weg oder daneben sind. Allerdings mussten wir eine halbe Stunde warten, bis das Kangaroo näher zu uns gekommen ist, aber es war schön das Kangaroo vom Nahen zu sehen. Im Zoo gab es auch noch andere coole Tiere. Der rote Panda war besonders süß und der Löwe hat sich für uns in Pose geschmissen. Der Zoo ist ziemlich gut aufgebaut, überall sind Schilder, bei denen man Eierkartons aufmachen muss oder ein Schwein dir Informationen gibt.

The rest of our time in Wellington we spent in the zoo and at Mt. Victoria. In the Zoo we saw our first Kiwi or to put it in another way we couldn't really see them because the are night active and so the enclosure is dark only with some red lights on. But we could see the outlines. But the best animal in the zoo were the kangaroos. They are in a enclose where you can walk in an get close to them when they are on the walkway or next to it. But when we went there it took us half an hour till the kangaroo wanted to get close to us but it was really nice to see it then just in front of you. In the zoo there were some other cool animals as well. I really liked the red panda because they are very cute. And the lion posed for us at a stone. The zoo is quite cute constructed. Everywhere are signs packed in an carton of eggs or a pig sign tells you some information.

Am Wochenende sind wir auch noch zwei mal auf den Mt. Victoria gefahren.  Einmal in der Nacht und einmal tagsüber. In der Nacht konnte man die Lichter der Stadt und vom Hafen sehen. Das sah sehr schön aus. Als wir auf dem Berg waren, hat Robbie Williams ein Konzert gegeben (es war auch die Nacht vom Rugby Finale) und so konnten wir "Angel" hören und eine schöne Aussicht genießen. Am nächsten Tag wollten wir eigentlich auf den Berg laufen, aber wir waren alle zu müde, sodass wir entschieden haben wieder hoch zu fahren. Von oben konnte man die Fähre sehen, mit der wir in ungefähr einem Monat auf die Südinsel fahren.

We also went to Mt. Victoria twice at the weekend. One time at night and one time the day after. At night you can see all the lights of the city and the port. It looks very nice and because it was the night of the Rugby game there was a Robbie Williams concert in Wellington. We could hear it on the top of the mountain. So we heard "Angel" with a amazing view. On the day after we actually wanted to walk this time to the top but we decided to drive as well because we all were too tired to walk. At the day one could see the ferry which goes to the South Island and where we will be on in about a mounth.
