Ice and snow in the summer - glacier

Eis und Schnee in den Sommerferien - das findet man bei den Gletschern in Neuseeland. Es gibt zwei sehr bekannte Gletscher auf der Südinseln, den Fox Glacier und den Franz Joseph Glacier. Vom Fox Glacier konnte man an diesem Tag nicht viel sehen, da dieser im Nebel verschwunden war. Beim Franz Joseph Glacier hatten wir mehr Glück und haben uns entschieden eine eineinhalbstündige Wanderung zu Gletscher und zurück zu machen. Man konnte den Gletscher schon vom Weitem sehen und ist immer Näher hingewandert bis man nur noch 200m entfernt stand. Leider ist der Gletscher in den vergangenen Jahren immer weiter zurück gegangen und das Eis geschmolzen. Aber er ist trotzdem noch sehr eindrucksvoll. Besonder schön sind auch die kleinen Wasserfälle, die die man überall an den Felswänden sieht. Am nächsten Morgen sind wir zum Lake Matherson gefahren (er wird auch Mirrow Lake genannt). Wenn im Wasser keine Bewegung ist, spiegeln sich die Bäume und Gletscher im Wasser. Bei uns hat sich der Gletscher leider hinter den Wolken versteckt, aber die Spiegelung der Pflanzen sah trotzdem sehr schön aus.

Ice and snow in the summer holidays - that at the glacier in New Zealand. There are two famous glacier at the South Island, the Fox Glacier and the Franz Joseph Glacier. When we arrived there at first we wanted to take a look at the Fox Glacier but one couldn't see it because it was hidden in the fog. At the Franz Joseph Glacier we had more luck and we decided to do the Valley Walk which was around one and a half hours. We could already see the glacier from far away and walked towards it till we were only 200m away. Sadly the glacier got smaller and smaller in the last years and the ice melted but it was still very impressive. Very beautiful are the small waterfalls around the glacier which are coming down the cliffs. On the next morning we went to Lake Matherson (also called Mirrow Lake). When there is no movement in the water one can see a good reflection of the trees and the glacier in the water. But we didn't had luck on this day as well and the glaciers where hidden in the fog. But anyway it looked very nice with only the plants as well.
