Fergburger, Goldel fahren, große Berge und City-Life - das ist Queenstown. Aber jetzt von Anfang an. Unser nächstes großes Reiseziel war Queenstown. Bevor wir dort ankamen, machten wir aber noch eine Stopp beim Lake Wanaka, in dem der berühmte Wanaka Tree steht. Das ist ein Baum, der im Wasser wächst. Wer in Instagram Bilder von Neuseeland anschaut wird sicherlich auf den Fotografen Shaun Jeffers gestoßen sein. Er macht einfach so schöne Bilder und vor allem auch vom Wanaka Tree. Glatte Wasseroberfläche, Spiegelung im Wasser und manchmal noch mit einem Kajak vor dem Baum, das sind seine Bilder (für alle, die sie nicht kennen, einfach mal Shaun Jeffers Wanaka Tree googeln). Ich kam also mit einer sehr großen Erwartung an den Ort und wurde leider ziemlich enttäuscht. Der Baum ist ziemlich nah am Ufer, nicht in der Mitte vom See, wie es auf seinen Bildern immer aussieht (auch mit dem Kajak muss man dort nicht wirklich hinfahren) und die Spiegelung und glatte Wasseroberfläche war auch nicht der Fall. Aber hier trotzdem die Bilder vom Baum im Wasser, auch wenn ich sie schöner erwartet hätte.
Fergburger, Gondola, high mountains and city life - that's Queenstown. But let me start from the beginning. Our next big stop was Queenstown. Before we went there we stopped at Lake Wanaka where the famous Wanaka Tree is. That's a tree which grows in the water. If you take a look for New Zealand pictures in Instagram you know the photographer Shaun Jeffers. He takes so beautiful pictures especially of the Wanaka Tree. Flat water surface, reflection in the water and sometimes with a kajak in front of the tree, that kind of pictures he takes (if you don't know him just google Shaun Jeffers Wanaka Tree). My expectations of the Wanaka Tree were quite high and I was very disappointed when we got there. The tree is very close to the water's edge, not in the middle of the lake (as it looks like in his pictures and there is no need to get there with the kajak), the water surface was not flat and there was no reflection. But anyway here are some pictures of the tree in the water, even though I expected them to be nicer.
Danach ging es aber nach Queenstown, das zu meine Lieblingsorten der Reise zählt. Queenstown ligt direkt an einem See und ist von den Bergen eingeschlossen. Es ist auch einfach mal wieder eine Stadt, was wir auf unserer Reise teilweise vermisst habe. Ein Must Do ist der Burgerladen "Fergburger", der sehr bekannt ist. Die Burger sind einfach so lecker, da lohnt sich die Warterei. Abends sind wir dann noch ein bisschen in der Stadt rumgelaufen, die sehr schön beleuchtet war.
After Lake Wanaka we drove to Queenstown which is on the list of my favorite places of our jouney. Queenstown is placed at the lake and surrounded by mountains. And it is a city which we sometimes missed during our travel. A must do in Queenstown is the Burger shop 'Fergburger' which is very famous. The Burgers are so delicious! It is definetly worth the waiting. In the evening we went around the city which was covered in christmas lights.
Am nächsten Morgen war für Alina und mich eigentlich Paragleiten geplant aber es war leider zu windig und es wurde abgesagt. Um trotzdem noch einen Blick auf Queenstown zu ergattern, ging es mit der Gondel hoch auf einen Berg. Die Aussicht von dort oben war einfach wunderschön. Auf dem Berg konnte man dann noch mit dem Luge fahren, was ein kleines Fahrzeug ist und man auf einer Art Gokartstrecke fährt. Das war ganz lustig. Den Rest des Tages verbrachten wir damit Weihnachtsgeschenke zu kaufen und auch im CookieTime Shop vorbei zu schauen (definitiv ein Besuch wert).
On the next day Alina and I wanted to go paragleiting but it was too windy and so it was canceled. Instead we took the Gondola up the mountain to see Queenstown from the top. The view was amazing. On the mountain one could drive the Luge which is a kind of small vehicel on a go-cart road. This was funny. We spent the rest of the day with christmas shopping and to take a look in the CookieTime Shop (definetly worth a visit).
